Maintenance

A Note from Owner Jim Ryckman-

"We always recommend you consult your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations when it comes to maintenance. These guidelines were designed by the engineers of your car. But sometimes there are exceptions we make based on good or bad experiences. Good experiences like 'My last car ran 100,000 miles without a tune up so why should I replace parts on my 67,000 mile car?'. But bad experiences like 'My last engine rusted from the inside out since I decided to avoid coolant flushes.. Now I do them every two years!'."

"Ultimately we will work on your car the way you request us to. We always prefer to follow the quality path. But should you decide to take a short cut we will document your choice and maintain your car your way. Just remember, at Rytek you are in control".

Corrosive Coolant

GM Coolant - Most extended life coolants life DEX-COOL© (in vehicles from 1995 on) become corrosive after 3-5 years and will damage your cooling system. Damage to the cooling system can lead to expensive repair costs and if not caught in time it can lead to engine failure. The low cost maintenance remedy is to have your cooling system flushed every 3 years. Contact us to schedule a coolant flush today.

ABS Failure (Anti-lock Braking System)

Brake fluid is “hygroscopic”, which means that it absorbs moisture. This causes the fluid to degrade over time. Brake system manufacturers indicate that the #1 cause of failed Antilock Brake Systems is contaminated brake fluid. Moisture will accelerate the corrosion and degrade the internal seals of your brake system. A cost-saving solution for this problem is to change the brake fluid every 2 years. Contact us to schedule a brake fluid change today.

Tire Wear

Tire rotation is often overlooked, but when done at a regular interval of every 6 to 8 thousand miles yields key benefits. Rotation of your tires maintains an even tread wear that gives the benefit of a smoother ride and upholds the warranty on your tires. Tire wear can be an indicator of other problems within the suspension and steering systems. Regular rotations will help reveal this before it becomes a problem. An easy rule of thumb to remember is to have this service done with every other oil change.
